Economic Significance Study

These two studies quantify the economic contributions made by the more than 1.8 million meetings, trade shows, conventions, congresses, incentive events and other meetings that take place across the country.

The Economic Significance of Meetings to the U.S. Economy in 2010 and 2013 were conducted by PwC US and was spearheaded by an alliance of CIC members representing the collective meetings, travel, exhibitions and events industries in the U.S.

Face Time. It Matters

“FACE TIME. It Matters.” is a grassroots industry campaign theme designed to promote the benefits of meeting face-to-face. The campaign was developed in response to one of the most challenging years ever faced by the meeting, convention and exhibition industries. It was based on the findings of a recent national survey of corporate and association meeting planners, plus in-depth personal interviews with the industry’s leading executives as well as focus groups consisting of corporate and association executives, business travelers and professional meeting planners.

Project Attrition

Attrition remains a perennial issue for the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry to grapple with. The Convention Industry Council commissioned Project Attrition in response to the industry's growing concerns around the issue. Launched as a fast-response industry collaboration, Project Attrition was designed to help educate members of the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry on the issue while pursuing solutions to minimize the impact of the problem.
 
The results of Project Attrition offer planners and suppliers a number of tools and resources for formulating proactive attrition management plans.
