Can a belt wear out in just one season?
I installed a new original belt on my John Deere in the spring, but by the end of the season, it was noticeably slipping.
The machine had about 175 hours of use. Is this a normal service life? How can I tell if the belt is worn out?

75 hours for an original belt is very low. Under normal use, high-quality belts last 300 to 500 hours or more. If you decide to replace them, don't overpay for the brand name, because there are excellent reinforced alternatives like https://udcparts.com/products/791988-deck-belt-replacement-for-hustler-52-in-deck which are made of durable synthetic rubber with aramid fiber reinforcement. These belts are designed for heavy loads and are resistant to heat and stretching.
